Descrizione generale

Phosphatidylserine (PS) belongs to the class of glycerophospholipids and is generally found in the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane and in endocytic membranes.[1] Dansyl ((dimethyl amino)naphthalene-1-sulfonYL)) group produces blue or blue-green fluorescent adduct and is used in labeling techniques for studying protein folding and dynamics.(5)

Applicazioni

18:1 Dansyl PS may be used for preparation of liposomes for sedimentation assays, visualising and other fluorometric analysis like FRET.[2]

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Phosphatidylserine (PS) plays a vital role in cell cycle signaling and engulfing apoptotic cells.[3] It is also known to activate the blood coagulation process acting as a pro-coagulant surface.[4]

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is the most abundant negatively charged phospholipid in eukaryotic membranes. PS directs the binding of proteins that bear C2 or gamma-carboxyglutamic domains and contributes to the electrostatic association of polycationic ligands with cellular membranes.
