Description générale

Cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate, commonly used as bleach and drying agent, can be produced by reacting cobalt (II) carbonate and acetic acid.[1] It undergoes decomposition on heating up to 500°C under non-isothermal conditions.[2] Its crystals exhibit monoclinic crystal system having space group P21/c.[3] Cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate undergoes hydrothermal reaction with 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (BTCH3) to afford Co3(BTC)2.12H2O.[4]

Application

Cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate may be used as a cobalt source in the synthesis of cobalt nanoparticles[5] and cobalt oxide thin films. It may also be used to prepare cobalt(II)-aminophenyltetrazolate coordination polymer[6] and tricobalt complexes with mixed μ-acetato and μ-pyrazolato ligands.[7] Cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate enhances the reaction rate of oxidation of 1,4-dihydropyridines using hydrogen peroxide to the corresponding pyridine derivatives.[8]
Cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate may be used in the preparation of [Co3(OH)2(H2O)2(aptet)4] (aptet = 4-aminophenyltetrazolate)[6] and new tetradentate cobalt(II)-Schiff base complex.[9]

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.
