General description
During the Western blotting process, non-specific binding of antibodies to the membrane is detrimental to the specificity and sensitivity of the assay. To overcome this challenge, it is essential to block parts of the membrane not already occupied by proteins. The Amersham™ ECL™ Prime blocking agent can be used for blocking Amersham Protran nitrocellulose (NC) and Amersham Hybond polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes when used along with the ECL™ chemiluminescence detection reagents, such as Amersham ECL™, ECL™ start, ECL™ Prime, ECL™ Select, and ECL™ Plex. Each pack contains 40 g of blocking agent, which is sufficient for at least 20 mini blots.
Application
ECL™ Advance Blocking Reagent may be used for high-sensitivity ECL and fluorescence western blotting applications.
