Description générale

Trimethylolpropanetriacrylate (TMPTA) is a tri-functional monomer that is used in the productionof various types of polymers with a wide range of applications. The most commonuse of trimethylolpropane triacrylate is in the production of UV-curedcoatings, inks, and adhesives, resins, photosensitive materials, andsuperabsorbent materials. Additionally, TMPTA-based polymers are utilized in theproduction of thermosetting resins, which are used in the production ofcomposites, laminates, and coatings. TMPTA can also be copolymerized with othermonomers to tailor the properties of the resulting polymers to meet specificrequirements.

Application

Trimethylolpropane triacrylate can be used as a starting material in the preparation of:
  • Poly(trimethylolpropane triacrylate/Al(PTMPTA/Al) nanocomposites by in situ solution polymerization.
  • Cross-linkable acrylamide/crotonic acid water retainer hydrogels.
  • Polymer electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cells.

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.   2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  4. We need to verify a purity of this reagent. We only have HPLC available. Can you please suggest an appropriate method for TMPTA detection?

    1. Unfortunately, this product is tested for purity by GC and has never been tested by HPLC. A brief search of the literature reveals that ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) publishes the HPLC conditions in the CLH report for TMPTA.

    1. This product has a minimum purity of 70% and is classified as a 'technical grade'. While it does contain a preservative at a very low concentration, no further testing is performed to identify or quantify the impurities.
