Description générale

Colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF-1R) is encoded by the c-fms proto-oncogene mapped to human chromosome 5q33. The encoded protein acts as a receptor for CSF1 expressed in non-hematopoietic cells, such as macrophages, epithelial and fibroblasts cells and tumor cells.

Immunogène

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human CSFR.

Immunogen Range: 531-580

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF-1R)/ CSF-1 ligand system plays a vital role in the regulation of macrophage physiology in immune system. The encoded protein functions as a receptor and mediates the function of its ligand, colony stimulating factor 1, a cytokine involved in regulation of production, differentiation, and function of macrophages. Experimental analysis revealed that CSF-1/CSF-1R is overexpressed in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma when compared to patients with nasopharyngitis. Activated CSF-1R, is essential for monocyte differentiation to macrophages by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL), which is a vital step in early atherogenesis. This protein is also associated with regulation of hematopoiesis. Deletion or mutation of this gene might be involved in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes or of acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL).
