General description

Neoxanthin belongs to the class of carotenoids. It is an allenic xanthophyll and a precursor of the plant hormone abscisic acid, which is formed as the last product of carotenoid synthesis in green plants.

Application

Neoxanthin may be used as a reference standard in the determination of the analyte in fruits using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with diode array detector (DAD) and mass spectrometry (MS).)
