General description

Developed in the 1960′s, pentylone is a newer bath salt cathinone and stimulant sold in a blend called “NRG-1” with other bath salts such as flephedrone, MDPBP, MDPV, and MPPP. Pentylone has also been found in a separate blend with MPPP called “NRG-3.”

Application

  • Characterization and By-product Identification of Pentylone Hydrochloride: This research provides a comprehensive characterization of Pentylone hydrochloride using mass, NMR, and IR spectroscopy. The study also identifies isocathinone by-products, essential for understanding the compound′s pharmacological profile and its potential as a psychoactive substance in pharmaceutical research. This detailed analysis supports drug development and forensic investigations, facilitating the advancement of therapeutic agents and the detection of illicit drug use (Westphal et al., 2012).
