General description
Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is an anionic phospholipid(1 It is a predominant component of the cell membrane. Nitrobenzoxadiazole phosphoglycerol (NBD PG) is a fluorophore-labeled phospholipid.
Application
16:0-12:0 NBD PG or 1-palmitoyl-2-{12-[(7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl)amino]dodecanoyl}-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-rac-(1-glycerol)] (ammonium salt) may be used in microfluidic chip-based technology to demonstrate separation of fluorophore-labeled phospholipids.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylglycerol contributes to the biosynthesis of cardiolipin. It plays a vital role in photosynthetic activity by maintaining the structural photosynthetic apparatus.
