Application

Ropivacaine hydrochloride USP reference standard, intended for use in specified quality tests and assays as specified in the USP compendia. Also, for use with USP monographs such as:
  • Fentanyl Citrate and Ropivacaine Hydrochloride Compounded Injection
  • Ropivacaine Hydrochloride
  • Ropivacaine Hydrochloride Injection

Biochem/physiol Actions

Local anaesthetic with less cardiotoxicity than bupivacaine; causes reversible blockade of impulse propagation along nerve fibres by preventing the inward movement of sodium ions through the cell membrane of the nerve fibers.
