Application

  • Insights into the potential of rheological measurements in development of dry powder inhalation formulations.: This article investigates rheological properties and their implications in the development of inhalation formulas where a-Lactose monohydrate plays a crucial role (Almansour et al., 2022).

  • Spray-Congealing and Wet-Sieving as Alternative Processes for Engineering of Inhalation Carrier Particles: Comparison of Surface Properties, Blending and In Vitro Performance.: The study provides a comparative analysis of spray-congealing and wet-sieving processes in engineering carrier particles for inhalation, utilizing a-Lactose monohydrate (Pinto et al., 2021).

  • Conversion of a-lactose monohydrate to anhydrous form with superior tabletability by twin-screw extrusion at elevated temperature.: Discusses a method for converting a-Lactose monohydrate to a more compressible anhydrous form, enhancing its application in tablet manufacturing (Batra et al., 2020).

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

alpha-Lactose is the primary sugar present in milk and the main energy source to a newborn mammalian through its mother′s milk. It is digested by the intestinal lactase (EC 3.2.1.108), an enzyme expressed in newborns. The enzyme′s activity declines following weaning which can lead to lactose intolerance in adult mammals.

Over the last years, continuous manufacturing has created significant interest in the pharmaceutical industry. Continuous filtration at low flow rates and high solid loadings poses, however, a significant challenge. A commercially available, continuously operating, dynamic cross-flow filtration device (CFF) is
