General description
The forkhead box family of proteins play an important role in immune response, organ development and the development of cancer. Functional studies in vertebrates suggest this with this gene plays a role in the modulation neural plasticity. In line with these findings, mutations of FoxP2 in humans have been linked to speech and language disorders.
