Application

Nitrazine Yellow has been used in dye-protein binding assay.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Nitrazine Yellow ( 2-(2,4-dinitrophenylazo)-1-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid disodium salt) is a pH-sensitive azo dye.[2] It changes color from yellow to blue in pH range 6.0–7.0 and is widely used in microscopy.[2][3] Throat swab immersed in nitrazine yellow is used to identify pH variations in the vagina before and after amniotomy.[4]
