Zymosan A aus Saccharomyces cerevisiae wurde für folgende Anwendungen eingesetzt:
  • als Positivkontrolle zur Bestimmung der Aktivierung der Komplementkaskade
  • für den „Oxidativer-Burst“-Test[1]
  • zur Beurteilung seiner Wirkungen auf die Leistung, die Immunität, das Hitzeschockprotein und die Apoptose-bezogene Genexpression bei Milchkühen unter Hitzestress
  • als stimulierendes Mittel im Krebs-Ringer-Phosphat(KRP)-Medium
  • zur Induktion von thermischer Hyperalgesie bei Mäusen

Biochem/physiol Actions

Zymosan wird aus Hefezellwänden hergestellt und besteht aus Protein-Kohlenhydrat-Komplexen. Es wird zum Auslösen einer experimentellen sterilen Entzündung verwendet. Zu den Zymosan-induzierten Reaktionen von Makrophagen gehören die Induktion von proinflammatorischen Zytokinen, Arachidonatmobilisierung, Proteinphosphorylierung und Inositolphosphatbildung. Zymosan A erhöht außerdem den Cyclin-D2-Spiegel, was auf eine Rolle des letzteren bei der Makrophagenaktivierung neben der Proliferation hinweist. Es verstärkt die akute Leberschädigung nach Galactosamin-Injektionen, was darauf hindeutet, dass bestimmte Typen von nicht-parenchymalen Zellen außer den Kupffer-Zellen an der Zymosan-Wirkung beteiligt sind. Zymosan A, ein 13-beta-Glucan, trägt zur Entwicklung der Atemwegserkrankung durch organische Stäube bei.

    1. This product is soluble in organic solvents as follows:
      - Chloroform: 100 µg/ml
      - Dimethyl sulfoxide: 200 µg/ml
      - Ethanol: 100 µg/ml.

      According to the 'Solubility/Solution Stability' section in the product information sheet, this product is not soluble in water but can be suspended uniformly in saline solution.
