However, additional sources indicate stock solutions prepared in DMSO may be stored in aliquots at -20 °C for 1 – 3 months, when protected from light. Biochem/physiol Actions
Verteporfin ist ein Photosensibilisator für die photodynamische Therapie zur Entfernung anormaler Blutgefäße des Auges, die mit Erkrankungen wie Makuladegeneration einhergehen. Verteporfin reichert sich in den anormalen Blutgefäßen an und produziert durch Stimulierung mit kaltem Rotlicht (Wellenlänge 693 nm) bei Vorhandensein von Sauerstoff hochreaktiven, kurzlebigen Singulett-Sauerstoff und andere reaktive Sauerstoffradikale, was zur lokalen Schädigung des Endothels und Verstopfung der Blutgefäße führt. Verteporfin ist vorwiegend in den Mitochondrien lokalisiert.
Verteporfin ist ein Photosensibilisator für die photodynamische Therapie.
Verteporfin kann die Interaktion von YAP (Yes-assoziiertes Protein)/TAZ (transkriptioneller Koaktivator mit PDZ-Bindungsmotif) mit dem TEAD-Komplex (TEA-Domäne) stören. Es vermindert auch die Vitalität von Eierstockkrebszellen und unterbindet fast vollständig die Zellmigration. Daher kann Verteporfin als ein starkes Therapeutikum gegen Eierstockkrebs angesehen werden.
