Allgemeine Beschreibung

Anti-Rabex-5 (N-terminal) is produced in rabbit using as immunogen a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at N-terminal of human Rabex-5, with an added cysteine, conjugated to KLH. Rabex-5 contains multiple functional domains, including a vacuolar protein sorting-associated (VPS9) domain that possesses the GDP/GTP exchange factors (GEF) activity, a ubiquitin-binding A20-like zinc finger (ZnF) domain, and a coiled-coil domain.

Anwendung

Anti-Rabex-5 (N-terminal) antibody may be used in immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Rabex-5 forms a tight complex with Rabaptin-5 that is essential for endocytic membrane fusion. The bound Rabaptin-5 to Rabex-5 increases the GEF activity of Rabex-5 and fastens the generation of the active GTP-bound form of membrane associated Rab5.

Physikalische Form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Listeria monocytogenes is a food-borne pathogenic bacterium that invades intestinal epithelial cells through a phagocytic pathway that relies on the activation of host cell RAB5 GTPases. Listeria monocytogenes must subsequently inhibit RAB5, however, in order to escape lysosome-mediated destruction. Relatively
