Application

β-Glycerophosphat ist ein klassischer Serin-Threonin-Phosphatase-Inhibitor, der in Kinase-Reaktionspuffern verwendet wird. BGP wird häufig in Kombination mit anderen Phosphatase-/Protease-Inhibitoren zur Breitbandhemmung eingesetzt. Es fungiert als Spender von organischem Phosphat und wird in Kulturmedien für die Differenzierung zwischen mesenchymalen Stammzellen und osteoblastenähnlichen Zellen verwendet. Darüber hinaus wird BGP als Puffer für M17-Medium bei Lactococcus-Kulturen für die rekombinante Proteinexpression verwendet.
Startet die Differenzierung von Stammzellen aus dem Knochenmark, die in ein für die Gewebezüchtung entwickeltes natürliches Kollagen/Chitosan-Gel eingebettet sind.
β-glycerophosphate is used in homegenization solutions for muscles extracts following fixation. [1]

Analysis Note

Low inorganic phosphate content. Mixtures of α- and β-glycerophosphate have historically been used in microbiological media but high levels of inorganic (free) phosphate has been associated with the irregular growth of bacteria and unwanted precipitates.[2]

  1. Good day,  I am already using this product at 44.4% (w/v) to raise the pH of my chitosan solution. To prevent further dilution of the final solution, I would like to increase of ß-GP even more. Are higher concentrations feasible to work with?

    1. The solubility of this product is tested at 50 mg/mL (5%) in water. The solubility at higher rates has not been investigated. A review of available literature indicates this material is expected to be soluble at 175 mg/mL (17.5%) with heat and sonication. Concentrations exceeding 44.4% would have to be determined experimentally.

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  4. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.
