General description
Fetuin aus fötalem Rinderserum ist ein 64-kDa-Plasmaglykoprotein. Es wird von der Leber und dem Fettgewebe erzeugt.
Application
Fetuin ist ein Protein, das dazu in der Lage ist, an den Insulinrezeptor zu binden und die Wirkung von Insulin zu hemmen. Fetuin wurde in Studien zu Diabetes mellitus Typ II (T2DM) eingesetzt. Bei Patienten mit T2DM ist Fetuin gegenüber der Kontrollgruppe signifikant verringert. Fetuin wurde auch in Studien zur Demonstration seiner schützenden Rolle bei der Entwicklung von Arterienverkalkungen eingesetzt.
Fetuin aus fötalem Rinderserum wird wie folgt verwendet:
- zum Synthetisieren der primären und sekundären Calciproteinteilchen (CPP)
- zur Untersuchung der Bindung von Xerocomus chrysenteron-Lectin (XCL) an das von Membranproteinen exprimierte T-Antigen
- als Ergänzung in Ham′s F10-Medien für die Kultivierung von Myoblasten.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Fetuin, ein Inhibitor der Rezeptortyrosinkinase, moduliert den Knochenumbau und Calciummetabolismus. Es ist an der Migration von Keratinozyten und dem Signalweg der Brusttumorzellproliferation beteiligt. Fetuin reguliert auch die Gefäßverkalkung, Insulinresistenz und Proteaseaktivität. Es agiert als ein Biomarker für neurodegenerative Erkrankungen. Fetuin weist entzündungshemmende Eigenschaften auf.
Preparation Note
Hergestellt durch Ammoniumsulfat-Fraktionierung von fötalem Rinderserum nach dem Verfahren von Pederson, K.O., J. Phys. and Colloid Chem., 51, 164 (1947).

How pure is this fetuin? There's a protein content % but could there be other proteins from serum present when using ammonium sulfate fractionation?

Product F2379 can not be considered pure Fetuin. Neither the purity, nor the identity of potential contaminating proteins, is determined.

Is there a good antibody to recognize this bovine fetuin B by western blot?

Unfortunately, the Fetuin antibodies currently available are not tested against bovine. While fetuin is fairly conserved from bovine to human, reactivity cannot be predicted. See the links below for fetuin antibodies against human that have been testing for use in western blot.
