General description
BSA besteht aus einer einzelnen Polypeptidkette mit etwa 583 Aminosäureresten und ohne Kohlenhydrate. Bei einem pH-Wert von 5 bis 7 enthält es 17 Intraketten-Disulfidbrücken und 1 Sulfhydrylgruppe.
Application
Die 30%-ige BSA-Lösung ist ein praktisches Produkt für die direkte Supplementierung von serumfreien Medien. Rinderserumalbumin wird verbreitet als Zellkulturmedienzusatz verwendet, insbesondere für serumfreie Medien. Es bietet zahlreiche Vorteile wie z. B. Schutz vor oxidativer Schädigung und Stabilisierung anderer Medienbestandteile wie Fettsäuren und Pyridoxal.
