General description

Devarda′s alloy is a reducing agent, and has found application in being used to reduce NO₃--N, or NO₂--N, into NH⁴⁺-N, thereby finding functionality in being used for total nitrogen determination.

Application

Reduzierendes Reagens, welches für die Bestimmung des Gesamtstickstoff nach Kjeldahl benutzt wird. Wird für die Reduktion von Chlorat zu Chlorid in basischen Lösungen verwendet.

Devarda′s alloy was used to study, its effects as a reducing agent on Cp2TiCl-catalyzed living radical polymerization of styrene, which was initiated by epoxide radical ring opening.
