Beschreibung

General description

Ein zellpermeables steroidales Alkaloid und Cholesterinimitator, der sowohl tetratogene als auch antitumorale Wirkungen aufweist. Es stört die Cholesterin-Biosynthese und bekämpft den Shh-Signalweg (Sonic Hedgehog) durch die direkte Wechselwirkung mit Smo (Smoothened), einem entfernten Verwandten von G-Protein-gekoppelten Rezeptoren, spezifisch. Ein wertvolles Mittel zur Untersuchung der Beteiligung des Shh-Signalwegs an der Entstehung verschiedener Tumore. Tomatidin kann als Negativkontrolle eingesetzt werden. Die Festform dieser Verbindung (Katalog-Nr. 239803) ist ebenfalls erhältlich.
