Methyl-β-Cyclodextrin ist eine makrozyklische Verbindung, die Einschlussverbindungen mit einer Reihe von Gastmolekülen bilden kann. Es weist eine bessere Löslichkeit in wässrigen Lösungen sowie eine höhere Solubilisierungskraft und Komplexbildung als das parentale β-Cyclodextrin auf. MβCD kann zur Verbesserung der Enzymaktivität und Enantioselektivität von Subtilisin-Enzymen in organischen Lösungsmitteln verwendet werden.
