General description

The gene TPST2 (tyrosine sulfotransferase 2) is mapped to human chromosome 22q12.1. The protein localizes in the trans-Golgi network. TPST2 contains a cytoplasmic domain, a transmembrane domain, a putative stem region and a catalytic domain.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

TPST2 (tyrosine sulfotransferase 2) is mainly responsible for tyrosine O-sulfonation. It transfers sulfonate moiety from PAPS (3′-phosphoadenosine-5′-phosphosulfate) to tyrosine residue in the protein to produce tyrosine O-sulfate ester and PAP (3′-phosphoadenosine-5′-phosphate).
