4-Methyl-5-thiazoleethanol reacts with 4-ethyloctanoyl chloride to yield 4-methyl-5-thiazoleethanol 4-ethyloctanoate, sulfur-containing flavor compound[1]. It was isolated from ether soluble alkaloidal fraction of Panax ginseng[2].

Aplicación

4-Methyl-5-thiazoleethanol has been used in the synthesis of novel thiazolium halogenide ionic liquids[3].
