General description

Cardiolipin is a vital phospholipid of mitochondria.[1] E.coli membrane is made of 5-10% of cardiolipin.[2] Cardiolipin is a non-bilayer anionic phospholipid, that has four acyl chains and small headgroup.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cardiolipin is implicated in the dynamic organization of membranes and in cell division.[2] It is critical in proton uptake pathway.[3]
