Soluble carboxymethylcelluloses (CM-cellulose; CMC) available in varying viscosities are used as viscosity modifiers (thickeners) to stabilize emulsions and as a chemical dispersants of oils and other carbon structures such as nanotubes. CMCs are used in the development of biostructures such as biofilms, emulsions and nanoparticles for drug delivery.

Time-resolved crystallography with X-ray free-electron lasers enables structural characterization of light-induced reactions on ultrafast timescales. To be biologically and chemically relevant, such studies must be carried out in an appropriate photoexcitation regime to avoid multiphoton artifacts, a common issue in

The interaction between L929 cells and carboxymethylchitosan (CM-chitosan)-based hydrogels, hydrogels from pure CM-chitosan and its blends, was examined in this study. Cytotoxicity of all materials was also assessed. The cellular morphology and behavior on the surfaces of the hydrogels were

Glycerol and oleic acid (OA) were incorporated into carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) films by an emulsification method. Films containing different amounts of glycerol and OA were examined for mechanical properties, water vapor permeability (WVP), and moisture uptake, optical and thermal properties.
