General description

Sodium chloride (NaCl) is a colorless solid and its crystals belong to the cubic crystal system. It is widely employed preservative for meat, vegetable and fish products. NaCl is a useful precursor for the production of sodium and chlorine containing compounds.[1] Its effect on the growth of salmonellae (mixed inoculum of Salmonella thompson, S. stanley and S. infantis) has been investigated.[2]

Application

Sodium chloride was used in the isolation medium along with other constituents, prepared for incubating bone-marrow cells, during the isolation and expansion of hBM-MSCs (human bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells).[3]
