General description

A kit of NIST traceable ethanol standards suitable for calibration of ethanol testing methods. These Certified Reference Materials are widely used in forensic analysis and clinical toxicology applications for determination of blood alcohol content.

Application

  • Exopolysaccharide purification: Raj et al. utilized ethanol as part of an alcohol/salt-based aqueous two-phase system to purify exopolysaccharides from Lactobacillus spp., demonstrating its effectiveness in biotechnological applications and showcasing ethanol′s role in enhancing antidiabetic properties of biomolecules (Raj et al., 2024).

  • Antioxidant phenolic compounds extraction: De Jesus et al. conducted a study using ethanol for the microwave and ultrasound-assisted extraction of antioxidant phenolic compounds from Lantana camara leaves, highlighting ethanol′s utility in optimizing extraction processes for natural product research and phytochemical analysis (de Jesus et al., 2024).

  • Biopolymer degradation and ester production: Malunavicius et al. reported on the use of ethanol in the enzymatic degradation of polycaprolactones and simultaneous ester production, emphasizing ethanol′s role in sustainable biopolymer research and industrial applications (Malunavicius et al., 2023).

  • Coffee silverskin properties analysis: Buyong and Nillian explored the physiochemical properties of Liberica coffee silverskin using various solvents including ethanol, underscoring ethanol′s importance in food science and nutritional studies for extracting valuable compounds from agricultural by-products (Buyong and Nillian, 2023).

  • Polyphenol extraction from Acanthopanax senticosus: Li et al. employed ethanol in an ionic liquid-assisted aqueous two-phase system for the extraction and purification of polyphenols from Acanthopanax senticosus, demonstrating ethanol′s applicability in enhancing the efficiency of bioactive compound isolation in pharmaceutical research (Li et al., 2023).
