PI3 Kinase (p110α/p85α) Protein has been used in in vitro kinase assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks) are enzymes that play a crucial role in cell signaling. They are responsible for activating signaling pathways that regulate important cellular processes such as cell survival, proliferation, protein synthesis, cell metabolism, cytoskeletal rearrangements, and vesicle trafficking. PI3Ks exhibits both lipid kinase activity (phosphorylation of inositol ring in phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) lipids) and protein kinase activity (including autophosphorylation).

In addition to lipid kinase activity, the class-I PI 3-kinases also function as protein kinases targeting regulatory autophosphorylation sites and exogenous substrates. The latter include a recently identified regulatory phosphorylation of the GM-CSF/IL-3 βc receptor contributing to survival of acute
