Description

General description

Serum amyloid A1 (SAA1) is an acute response protein. It is synthesized by the liver, during infection. SAA1 is expressed in the amnion and chorion of human fetal membranes. It is located on human chromosome chromosome 11. SAA1 encodes for the inducible forms of serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins.

The Human SAA (Serum Amyloid A) ELISA (Enzyme- Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human SAA in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Serum amyloid A1 (SAA1) induces the generation of proinflammatory cytokines like, IL-1β (interleukin 1 β), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and the uterotonic hormone proinflammatory cytokines and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2).
