General description
MRO (Maestro) is a nucleolus localized protein encoding a HEAT-like repeat containing protein. The HEAT-repeat protein motif consists of ∼37−43 amino acids with two interacting anti-parallel α-helical domains and a non-helical region as a separator. It is mapped on chromosome 18q21.

Biochem/physiol Actions
MRO (Maestro) is mainly involved in the translational regulation, protein trafficking, and nuclear import. Its expression has been reported in the developing male gonad prior to testis differentiation. It performs multiple protein-protein interaction during gonad development.
