General description

Zinc finger X-chromosomal protein (also known as ZNF926) is a zinc finger protein encoded by the ZFX gene in humans. It is a member of Zfy family, which is highly conserved in vertebrates. The gene is mapped to human X chromosome.[1]

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

Zinc finger X-chromosomal protein (ZNF926) controls the self-renewal of embryonic and hematopoietic stem cells as a transcriptional regulator. It is associated with several human cancers, including lymphoma, laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, prostate cancer and liver cancer.[1] It also contributes to the maintenance of different types of stem cells and the progression of various cancers.
