General description

Abberior STAR 512 was developed for STED and confocal microscopy in the green spectral region. Abberior STAR 512 is highly photostable and bright green fluorescent dye. The dye works extremely well with Abberior Instruments Expert Line Microscopes and Leica STED microscopes. It can be very effectively excited with excitation lasers at 488 nm or 514 nm. Abberior STAR 512 can substitute dyes like Oregon Green 514, Atto 514 or Alexa Fluor 514. For STED microscopy, Abberior STAR 512 can be most efficiently used with STED Laser wavelengths between 590 - 610 nm. Best results are obtained with freshly prepared samples.

New photostable rhodamine dyes represented by the compounds 1 a-r and 3-5 are proposed as efficient fluorescent markers with unique combination of structural features. Unlike rhodamines with monoalkylated nitrogen atoms, N',N-bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) derivatives 1 e, 1 i, 1 j, 3-H and 5 were found to
