General description
A unique bioreactor that eliminates all the limitations of other culture systems. For growing cells in suspension or on microcarrier beads, the environment is very low in shear stress; both normal and transformed cells can grow into large 3-D cultures, structurally and functionally resembling in vivo tissues. Mass transfer is very efficient, and the cells grow in a zero-headspace vessel in contact with a gas membrane. Cells can be grown to densities as high as 107-108 per mL. The base unit rotates the disposable 50 ml vessel on its horizontal axis, operates in your incubator, and allows samples to be withdrawn easily at any time.
