application

Sodium acetate solution has been used:
  • in DNA extraction
  • in reverse crosslinking and DNA purification
  • to precipitate Gata6 (GATA binding protein 6) cDNA as a part of high-purity plasmid preparation

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sodium acetate serves as a fixed base. It is useful to rectify acidosis among acidotic patients. Orginally, sodium acetate is used as dialysate for hemodialysis, but is known to cause cardiovascular instability.
