Description

General description

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) is a clear, colourless, volatile and very stable chlorinated hydrocarbon. It is widely used as a solvent for fats, varnishes, oils, lacquers, resins, and rubber waxes. It is also used as a dry-cleaning agent, as a refrigerant, and as a starting material in the manufacturing of organic compounds.

Application

CCl₄ may have been used as reference standard in colorimetric analysis to determine CCl₄ in fatty liver sample.
