Protein phosphatase Slingshot homolog 1 (EC 3.1.3.16; EC 3.1.3.48; UniProt Q8WYL5; also known as hSSH-1L, Slingshot homolog 1, SSH-1L, SSH-like protein 1) is encoded by the SSH1 (also known as KIAA1298, SSH1L) gene (Gene ID 54434) in human. SSH1 is the founding member of the Slingshot family of protein phosphatases that function to destabilize the actin cytoskeleton by reversing cofilin Ser3 phosphorylation and thereby re-activating cofilin. Cofilin plays a central role in regulating actin filament turnover and actin cytoskeletal remodelling by severing and depolymerizing actin filaments. Cofilin activity is negatively regulated by LIM kinases-catalyzed Ser3 phosphorylation. The Slingshot family members include SSH-1L, SSH-2L, SSH-3L, and chronophin. The members differ in their subcellular distribution, F-actin-binding activity, and phosphatase activity, implying related but member-specific functions.
Specificity
Expected to react with spliced isoform 1 (isoform L), isoform 2 (isoform S), isoform 4, and isoform 5, but not isoform 3 (isoform B) reported by UniProt (Q8WYL5).
Immunogen
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to an internal sequence of human SSH1.
Application
Anti-SSH1 Antibody, clone 12C6.1 is an antibody against SSH1 for use in Western Blotting.
Quality
Evaluated by Western Blotting in HeLa cell lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: 1.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected SSH1 in 10 µg of HeLa cell lysate.
Concentration: Please refer to lot specific datasheet.
