General description

3-Nitro-2,6-lutidine, a nitropyridine derivative, is also known as 2,6-dimethyl-3-nitropyridine. It can be prepared from 2,6-lutidine via nitration.

Application

3-Nitro-2,6-lutidine may be used in the preparation of 3-methoxy-2,7-dimethyl-2H-1,4-diazepine1 and 3-amino-2,6-lutidine.[1]
