Electrochemical reduction of 1,5-diiodopentane at carbon electrodes in DMF containing tetramethylammonium perchlorate has been studied by cyclic voltammetry and controlled-potential electrolysis[1].

Application

1,5-Diiodopentane has been used:
  • as crosslinking reagent, to investigate the cross-linking layer-by-layer films of bioreducible poly(2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) and DNA[2]
  • in preparation of (iodoalkylaminocarbene)tungsten complexes[3]
