Diethyl phosphate is formed during the metabolism and environmental degradation of chlorpyrifos (CPF), a commonly used insecticide.

Application

Diethyl phosphate is routinely measured in urine as a biomarker of exposure. It may be used as a reference standard for the determination of diethyl phosphate in human urine by liquid chromatography/electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS).
