General description

Biphenyl is a chemical compound, which can be used by Pseudomonas putida KF715 bacteria in order to degrade polychlorinated biphenyls, an environmental contaminant.[1] It can find applications in industries, for the synthesis of plastics, textiles, foams, electronic and also building materials.[2] It can combine with diphenyl ether to form a eutectic mixture, which can find applications as a heat transfer fluid in thermo-solar plants.[2]
