General description

Grade 304 tubing, specially cleaned to ensure inertness. Use for sensitive GC-MS applications.
Type 304 stainless steel is covered by highly protective film of chromium oxyhydroxide. Hydrochloric acid solution readily attacks 304SS. Hence, it is recommended to add inhibitors like heterocyclic compounds to reduce the corrosion rate.[1] 304SS materials are suitable for tubing and for wires as they exhibit strength and are corrosion resistant.[2]

Application

304SS tubing may be used to make homemade reactor coil for gas chromatography oven to determine the effect of thermal volume expansion of solvents under superheated conditions.[3]
