Gene Information

human ... MTHFD2(10797)

General description

Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase (NADP+ dependent) 2 (MTHFD2) is a mitochondrial bifunctional enzyme. It possesses a methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase and methenyltetrahydrofolate cyclohydrolase domain. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 2p13.1.

Immunogen

MTHFD2 (AAH01548, 16 a.a. ~ 344 a.a) full-length recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase (NADP+ dependent) 2 (MTHFD2) facilitates the regulation of breast cancer cell migration and invasion. MTHFD2 is involved in mitochondrial one-carbon folate metabolism. Decrease in MTHFD2 expression leads to impairment of cell migration and invasion into extracellular matrix and reduces the cell fraction with a high CD44 expression.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4
