General description

PPP2R2C (protein phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B γ) codes for a γ isoform of the subunit B55 subfamily. It is the regulatory subunit of protein phosphatase type 2A (PP2A). This gene is located on human chromosome 4p16.

PPP2R2C (NP_065149, 1 a.a. ~ 110 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Absence of PPP2R2C (protein phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B γ)
induces castration-resistance and is linked with increased prostate cancer-specific mortality. Suppressing PPP2R2C stimulates the development of prostate cancer in the absence of androgens without promoting androgen receptor (AR) activity in vitro. In mouse, PPP2R2C plays a major role in synaptic plasticity and hence learning and memory. It also acts as a tumor suppressor gene in human brain cancers.
