Description

General description

CD38 is a novel multifunctional ectoenzyme widely expressed in cells and tissues especially in leukocytes. CD38 also functions in cell adhesion,signal transduction and calcium signaling. (provided by RefSeq)
Cluster of differentiation 38 (CD38) is a glycosylated ∼45kDa type II transmembrane protein. It is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 4p15.32.

Immunogen

CD38 (AAH07964, 201 a.a. ~ 300 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cluster of differentiation 38 (CD38) plays a vital role in oxytocin secretion. In addition, it is also implicated in regulation of calcium concentration in airway smooth muscle. Aberrations in the gene expression is associated with the development of airway diseases like asthma. CD38 also functions in cell adhesion, signal transduction and calcium signaling. It serves as a potential disease marker for leukemias and myeloma.
