Gene Information

human ... VGLL4(9686)

General description

Vestigial-like 4 (VGLL4) belongs to the family of VGLL proteins and is characterized by two TDU domains at the C-terminal, unlike other members of the family. Vgl-4 is highly expressed in the nucleus. VGLL4 is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 3p25.2.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 206-219 of human VGLL4

application

Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about us and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Vestigial-like 4 (VGLL4) stimulates the apoptotic pathway by negatively regulating inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs). The encoded protein acts as a potential tumor suppressor and prognostic marker in gastric cancer and lung cancer. Knockdown of VGLL4 expression leads to progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).Therefore, restoring the function of VGLL4 can be a potential method for treating ESCC. Experimental studies states that VGLL4 is involved in regulation of cell mobility, migration and invasion.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
