General description

First Kunitz domain of TFPI-II containing a lysine residue at position 24

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protease inhibitor of metastasis and angiogenesis
Protease inhibitor of metastasis and angiogenesis. Hypermethylation of the TFPI-2 gene causes transcriptional silencing in choriocarconoma cells. The TFPI-2 gene may be a candidate tumor suppressor gene.[1]

Unit Definition

One trypsin unit will produce a ΔA253 of 0.001 per min with BAEE as substrate at pH 7.6 at 25 °C; reaction volume 3.2 ml, 1 cm light path.

Preparation Note

Soluble in water (0.5mg/ml) and in aqueous buffers of low ionic strength

Analysis Note

One mg will inhibit ≥1.3 mg of trypsin with activity of approx. 10,000 BAEE units per mg protein.
