Biochem/physiol Actions

Thimerosal is a sulfhydryl (thiol) oxidizing reagent capable of inhibiting a wide range of sulfhydryl-dependent enzymes and proteins such as PI3-kinase-dependent methionine synthase, glutamate transport receptors, and Na++K+ dependent ATPases.

Other Notes

As part of the corporation global plan to support the Minamata Convention eliminating mercury-containing compounds, as of January 2021 customers will be required to provide an End-Use Declaration. Sales of thimerosal will be restricted for approved applications only.
Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.Keep in a dry place

Journal of the Formosan Medical Association = Taiwan yi zhi, 111(6), 333-339 (2012-07-04)
This study evaluated the immune response elicited by two formulations of an AS03(A)-adjuvanted H5N1 A/Indonesia/05/2005 prepandemic influenza vaccine, developed using manufacturing processes with or without thiomersal. In addition, it also evaluated compliance to the Centre for Biologics Evaluation and Research

Despite the common use of Thimerosal as a preservative in childhood vaccines since the 1930s, there are not many studies on ethylmercury toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics in infants. The knowledge of ethylmercury's potential adverse effects is derived mostly from parallel methylmercury
