General description

Platelet factor-4 (PF-4) or chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4 is a CXC chemokine that is expressed in megakaryocytes and stored in the α-granules of platelets.[1] Recombinant human CXCL4 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Platelet factor-4 (PF-4) or chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4 is chemotactic towards neutrophils and monocytes and has been shown to inhibit angiogenesis. This protein associates with heparin and neutralizes it. It also neutralizes various negatively charged proteoglycans.[1][2]
