1,1-Dimethyl-4-acetylthiomethylpiperidinium iodide (MATP+) is a substrate for analysis of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. MATP+ is highly selective for specific detection of AChE activity, and thus is advantageous over other AChE substrates like acetylcholine, which can react with multiple enzymes like AChE and also butylcholinesterase (BChE). Thus with MATP+ in the AChE assay, there is no need to include BChE inhibitors in the protocol.
The activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is measured to obtain pathological information about the cholinergic system in various disease states and to assess the effect of AChE inhibitors. Using Ellman's method that is commonly used in such examinations, butyrylcholinesterase inhibitors must
Diketopiperazines (DKPs) are naturally-occurring cyclic dipeptides with a small structure and are found in many organisms and in large amounts in some foods and beverages. We found that a chicken essence beverage, which is popular among Southeast Asians as a
Enhancement of the activity of cholinergic neurons has been regarded as one of the most promising methods for treating Alzheimer's disease (AD). Donepezil is a representative acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (AChEI) and is a great success among the AChEI drugs. AChEIs are
