T cell surface glycoprotein, CD8 is a glycoprotein consisting of two chains, termed α and β chain. The majority of CD8 positive T cells express CD8 as α/β heterodimer. CD8 positive T cells are mainly involved in cytotoxic immunoreactions. CD8 is expressed on cytotoxic T cells, thymocytes, and NK cells as well as mature T cell lymphomas, T cell large granular lymphocyte leukemia, and subcutaneous panniculitis-like T cell lymphoma.
